Two-Year Programs and Certificates

Picture of ClassMaria offers a wide range of associate’s degree programs that is both a gateway to a professional career and preparation for further education. All degree programs are open to co-educational enrollment in flexible scheduling formats to serve those who want to learn – from recent high school graduates and those seeking to advance or change careers to older students returning to school from the home – and whose personal schedules have excluded them from further education.

In addition to Maria's associate’s degree programs, students can earn the following certificates: Bereavement Studies, Gerontology, Paralegal, Practical Nurse and Teaching Assistant.

Associate in Applied Science

The Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree is awarded upon completion of occupationally-oriented or career curricula and includes a minimum of twenty-two semester hours drawn from the humanities and the natural and social sciences, with a balance among those three areas. The remaining semester hours are in the candidate's specialized career program.

Degree programs are offered in: Accounting, Computer Information Systems, Early Childhood Education, Paralegal, Management, Nursing and Occupational Therapy Assistant.

Each state and/or profession has procedures for certification and licensure, including but not limited to consideration of felony convictions, pending criminal charges and professional misconduct. As a result, completion of a program does not guarantee licensure or certification.

Associate in Arts

The Associate in Arts (AA) degree is awarded upon completion of the Liberal Arts program. This multi-purpose program provides students the opportunity to pursue a well-rounded education by exploring courses in a wide range of areas such as psychology, English and science. By sampling different disciplines, they are able to determine their educational futures or prepare themselves for continued study towards a baccalaureate degree.

Associate in Science

The Associate in Science (AS) degree is awarded upon completion of the General Studies or Research Technologist program.

The General Studies program is designed for students who wish to enter a career program but lack the prerequisites and/or necessary skills for acceptance. It is also designed for students who wish to pursue post-secondary education for enrichment or to further develop career goals.

The curriculum for the Research Technologist program prepares the graduate to use scientific knowledge to work at an entry-level position in research/technology fields.
