More than simply a place to buy your books, the Maria bookstore carries a complete line of academic supplies, campus novelty items, clothing and jewelry. Open seven days a week, the bookstore also sells parking passes and provides the academic robes and invitations for graduation.

Centrally located in the Main Building, the campus café is a relaxing location and provides a comfortable hangout between classes. Since its opening in 2013, the new café has become a favorite meeting spot, providing a place to grab a snack, check email, and meet friends.

Library

During the academic year, the campus library is open daily to meet the needs of the Maria college community. Students have access to over 244,000 volumes through our extensive print and e-book collection. The library also offers print and electronic e-journals from 16 databases, and provides access to over 500 newspapers.

Part of the original chapel of the Dominican Monestary, the Upstairs Student Lounge offers great campus views in an inviting, yet reflective setting.

Smart Classroom

Newly renovated, technology enhanced classrooms labeled “CS1 or CS2” are located in the “Campus School” or Admission Center, behind the college’s Main Building. Faculty will frequently integrate multi-media learning technology, as seen here, where Nursing students are assessing the health of an avatar named, “Tina”. Reconfigurable furniture in these spaces also allows for heightened learning and collaboration sessions.

Located behind the college’s Main Building, the Enrollment Management Office houses the Admission Team, Financial Aid and the HEOP Program.

Hours of operation are as follows:

Monday - Friday: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

Fitness Center

Fitness Center

Health and wellness are key initiatives and the Maria College Fitness Center is outfitted with a variety of equipment designed to meet everyone’s “get fit” needs. Machines to burn calories, tone muscles and improve cardiovascular endurance include elliptical trainers, treadmills, gliders, and pull down weights. Other strengthening and balancing aids include free weights and stability balls. Group and individual classes, free of charge, are regularly scheduled. They include Yoga, Zumba, and Body Sculpting. Students can access the center in the Maria College Main Building when the day, evening and weekend classes are in session (building’s operating hours).

Science Lab

Science Lab

Student learning outcomes are greatly enhanced in the chemistry and microbiology lab spaces. Knowledge gaps are closed with the immersion in the hands on exercises of the material presented in the lecture class. Chemistry students develop knowledge of the various forms of matter and the nature of chemical reactions with an ongoing emphasis on laboratory protocols and safety. Microbiology students understand the characteristics of bacteria; the techniques used to culture, study, and control. Lab exercises reference the techniques used in clinical laboratories and include the microscope and various staining techniques, aseptic transfer of microbes, food and dairy microbiology, and unknown identification.

Faculty Offices

Faculty Offices

The new wing, located on the 2nd Floor in the Main Building contains the faculty offices for Liberal Arts, General Studies, Paralegal and Business programs. Collaboration between faculty and students is encouraged in areas containing tables, whiteboards and a multi-purpose lounge. Students can access the space via an elevator (next to the library) or stairs to the 2nd floor.

OTA ADL Learning Lab

OTA ADL Learning Lab

The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) students utilize this dedicated space to practice intervention techniques taught in the classroom. Activities of Daily Living (ADL) encompass self-care activities such as dressing, bathing, meal preparation and feeding that are a primary focus of OT interventions aimed at improving client function. The ADL Learning Lab is designed to simulate a typical one-bedroom apartment or room in an extended care setting. The ADL Lab has a fully functional kitchen, a bedroom equipped with a hospital bed, a bathroom and a common area for collaborative teaching. Students gain practical experience in therapeutic treatments, developing adaptations and use of assistive devices to increase independence.
