Maria College Creates Satellite Campus at Bishop Maginn High School

ALBANY, NY, May 31, 2017  A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place today at 11:30am at the Bishop Maginn High School for the opening of the Maria College satellite campus; classes are slated to start this fall.  Officials participating in today’s ceremony include Albany Bishop Edward Scharfenberger, D.D., Giovanni Virgiglio, Jr., MSED, superintendent of Catholic schools, Chris Signor, Bishop Maginn principal, Dr. Thomas Gamble, Maria College president, Dr. John Kowal, VP Academic Affairs and Victoria Battell, RSM, Vice President for Mission Integration & Associate Vice President for Student Affairs.

Bishop Maginn students in grades 10 – 12 will be eligible to enroll and earn college credits without leaving their campus.  Four courses will be taught by Maria faculty on the Bishop Maginn High School campus in the upcoming 2017-18 academic year.  Anatomy and Physiology I for four credits and Statistics for three credits will be offered this Fall 2017. 

Chris Signor, Bishop Maginn high school president stated, “Our high school has a solid reputation for high academic standards and achievements with a curriculum that prepares students for educational and professional pursuits.  Ninety-nine percent of our students matriculate at major universities and colleges.  This unique partnership with Maria College will provide them with transcripts to prove their abilities and talents in a college environment and provide a unique competitive advantage in college applications.  We are dedicating space to the college classes to make it easy for our students to participate.”
