Healthcare Management BS

Our Bachelor’s in Healthcare Management program is designed for aspiring managers who want a comprehensive understanding of today’s healthcare system. As one of the top healthcare-focused colleges in the Capital Region, Maria provides a thorough education about the clinical, technical, and business sides of the healthcare industry.

As technology advances and the industry continues to transform, the demand for healthcare jobs is expected to remain high – The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics expects healthcare management jobs to grow at a rate of 23 percent in this decade.

Our BS in Healthcare Management anticipates these needs within the industry. Students are given hands-on experience through required internships, where they will work directly with professional practitioners. Between academic resources, hands-on experience, and knowledgeable faculty, this program prepares graduates for mid-level management positions in hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, corporate health and wellness departments, and more.

  • Program Learning Outcomes

    Upon completion of the Bachelor of Science Degree in Healthcare Management, students will be able to:

    • Demonstrate an understanding of the United States healthcare system including its organization, structure, delivery modalities, performance and terminology.
    • Communicate effectively using a variety of formats and establish collaborative relationships with team leaders and stakeholders.
    • Relate and integrate the concepts of accounting, marketing, finance, management and healthcare law to the healthcare environment.
    • Understand the variety of complex technologies key to today’s healthcare environment.
    • Demonstrate an understanding and application of program planning and evaluation within healthcare organizations and the role of information systems in this process.
    • Identify and understand processes of continuous improvement and the barriers that exist to its success in a healthcare setting.
    • Identify major components and issues of healthcare law and polices as they apply to healthcare organizations.
    • Use theories of leadership and organizational behavior to define and implement management practices in healthcare settings.
    • Understand and apply appropriate analysis to ethical issues as they impact management and decision-making within healthcare organizations.
    • Pursue realistic ideas about how to implement their healthcare knowledge, skills and values in occupational pursuits in a variety of settings that will meet personal goals and societal needs.
